What happens when you call ADI Leak Detection
Someone in ADI’s office answers, asks about your home and what you have noticed, and tells you the price before anything is booked. Here is the rest of it, so nothing comes as a surprise.
Lines open Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 6:30pm

Who answers the phone
ADI’s own office team, Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 6:30pm. They speak to every customer before an engineer is booked, so ask whatever you need to first.
ADI records calls to its offices for quality and training, as its privacy policy explains.
What they will ask you
Enough to send the right engineer with the right kit. It helps to have these to hand:
What you have noticed
The jump in your bill, and the result of any meter test. If you used the meter test on this site, give them the litres an hour.
Your meter and stop tap
Where they are, and whether the meter still moved with the internal stop tap closed.
Your home
The postcode, the type of property, and anything shared, such as a supply pipe with a neighbour or a block of flats.
Access on the day
Parking, keys, and whether anyone else needs to let the engineer in. ADI can attend a let property without the owner, as long as access is arranged.
On the day
ADI allocates a full day to every investigation on water pipes. The engineer confirms there is a leak, then traces it with whatever suits your pipes: tracer gas, acoustic listening, thermal imaging and pressure testing.
Their methods are chosen to avoid damage wherever possible. Sometimes a small hole is needed to confirm the spot, and the water may need to be off for parts of the test.

Repairs and your written report
Once the leak is found, ADI will usually repair it on the same day where they can. Repairs are quoted separately, on the day, before any work starts.
The engineer who finds the leak writes up what was found and what was done. Keep that report with the invoice: your water company may want both for a leak allowance, and your insurer may want them for a claim.
No find, no fee
ADI offers no find, no fee on water mains and on mains fed water supply pipes inside the home, with conditions:
- it covers one leak at one property;
- the leak must be losing at least half a litre a minute, which is 30 litres an hour;
- water mains up to 30 metres long are covered;
- central heating, structural and swimming pool leaks are not.
There are further conditions in ADI’s full terms, so read them before you book. ADI does not promise to find every leak, and says so plainly.
What ADI does not do
Drying out and redecorating
Repairing water damage is separate work, and ADI can recommend a company for it. Your insurer will usually want a drying specialist’s certificate.
Boiler faults
ADI finds leaks in and around boilers, but other boiler faults need a boiler engineer.
Your water bill
Questions about charges, estimated readings and allowances go to your water company.
What customers say
ADI Leak Detection is rated 4.7 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 1,624 reviews, 89% of them five star (checked 25 September 2026). Two reviews that match the reason you are here, quoted as written:
Profecional from the start very polite and helpful on the phone. Plumber name of Brett Steel investigated the leak fully. Found it was not on our property,but still continued investigating, A few days later we got the report, with pictures of meter readings etc. conclusivly proving the leak was the responsibility of the water company. We have had a full rebate of the cost involved. Thank you.
We had a major water leak of approximately 220 litres per hour and, with a holiday booked only a few days later, we urgently needed someone to find and repair it. […] He quickly set up the equipment, carried out a tracer gas test and pinpointed the leak to an area just outside our garage underneath the driveway.
